Knutpunkt: A week in Gothenburg - Wednesday

After my day job I took the car to Lindholmens science park where the Nordic Larp Talks where to be held. Nordic Larp Talks are short presentations who are similar to Ted Talks, and they are all about Nordic Larp.
I was volunteering and helping out with whatever + using my car to transport those who had problems with using public transport. Volunteering gave me something to focus upon and an alibi to interact with people I didn't know yet. I had a lot of larpers come up to me and ask if they could help me wich was very nice of them and meant that I was never overworked and so I hope that helped the main crew.

Petter Karlsson was doing the technical stuff, mostly those things involved in filming it all and getting it online.

Johanna Koljonen was the host and the speakers where : Eleanor Saitta, Anna Westerling, Nathan Hook, Martin Nielsen, Shoshana Kessock
Carl Heath, Bjarke Pedersen, Siri Sandquist, Kaisa Kangas and Eirik Fatland. The talks will be released on the Nordic Larp Talk homepage http://nordiclarptalks.org/

I found Shoshana Kessock and Martin Nielsens talks to be the most interesting ones. Hers was about ethics in content creation and the baseline is that the community as a whole holds responsibility on how safe larps will me. His was about bringing kids larps to a refugee camp i Lebanon. But don't ask med questions about details, I was much to preoccupied for that and will have to rewatch the talks myself. I just met Shoshana but we seem to get along quite nicely and Martin I met  at the 2011 set up of the larp Just a Little lovin' (or if we met at the workshop in Oslo before that.)

The night ended with a pre-Knutpunkt party at Haket, where my friend BaaB who is kind of an inventory at Haket, but also a larper, came by. He was suprised by the amount of people there but boy was I glad to see him, a rock in this sea of international larpers mingling. We sat down and talked about our characters in the vampire larp, regaled people with the tales of the sign at the bar that used to say "No talking of the vampire larp at the bar" and on how to play "mean" characters.

Knutpunkt: A week in Gothenburg monday and saturday

Monday
On monday I get a call from Sebastian that one of the small larps being run at A Week in Gothenburg got cancelled and asked if I could possibly do one of the workshops I did at Prolog this year.
After work and doing my chores I packed my bag of disturbing things and headed for the social hub of A Week in Gothenburg, Arena 29 at Djurgårdsgatan 29.
I got 20 participants for my workshop about how to portray cinematic torture in a modern setting and I got great feedback from my participants. Tamm and Janusz helped out with both the demonstration I start with and helping the participants try out the different stations we designed.
Afterwards I walked some of the international guests to the bar Haket at Första Långgatan and then I got Charlotte home by tram. Went to sleep way to late.

Tuesday
Tuesday I had planned beforehand that I was going to do volunteering. So from 17:45 to 21:00 I was the host at Arena 29. I mainly just answered questions, helped people get nametags and talked a lot to Shoshana Kessock. Now the movie Role Models is showing on a big screen and I went through the routines for the night crew. Just like last night, a lot of people are at Haket. I'm tired and I don't have a lot to say. It takes a certain kind of person to juggle work, school, family and the larp community, Good night.

Tomorrow has the EduLarp Conference at the Visual Arena at Lindholmen and that sme evening we host the Nordic Larp Talks, short presentations about Nordic Larps led by Johanna Koljonen.
